Google Nexus 6 – The iPhone 6 Plus Killer

Google Nexus 6 or iPhone 6 Plus?
Sporting the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update the Google Nexus 6 is the search giant’s latest flagship mobile ‘phablet’ and it's primed to go toe-to-toe with the iPhone 6 Plus.
Designed by Motorola and dubbed ‘Shamu’ due to its sheer size the Nexus 6 is essentially a bulked-up version of the Moto X both in magnitude and specification. Boasting a 5.9-inch AMOLED screen with a 493ppi pixel density this tablet-like phone will make watching high resolution videos reading e-books and viewing pictures a complete joy.
Available to pre-order from 29 October 2014 the Nexus 6 will set you back $649 in the US - around £500 here in the UK. So why the price hike from the exceptionally affordable Nexus 5? Well with a specification built to slay the iPhone 6 Plus Google have had little choice but bump the cost. It’s important to note however the latest Nexus iteration still out-prices Apple’s monster by some distance.
Armed with colossal 2560 x 1440 display – a resolution only equalled by the LG G2 – it’s no surprise that for many the Nexus 6 is winning the supersize smartphone battle. Add to that a 13mp camera on the back a 3220 mAh battery Andreno 420 2.7GHz quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM in 32GB and 64GB options and we’re suddenly thinking “Apple who?”.

Other cool features of the Nexus 6 include a quick charge feature that yields 6 hours’ worth of battery power from a swift 15-minute charge a marvellous under-the-bonnet performance thanks to Android’s largest operating system update since time began and not forgetting a tough waterproof and super-slick design.
Possible downsides? Well as already mentioned it’s a behemoth of a device that for some might be just too much phone to handle. And whilst lighter than the iPhone 6 Plus the considerable 184g weight could well put some folk off.
As you can probably tell we can’t wait for the release and as always we’ll have a fine selection of Google Nexus 6 cases and covers right here at Mobile Madhouse - your one-stop-shop for mobile and tablet accessories.
So as two big hitters release their new devices which will you go for? The Google Nexus 6 or the iPhone 6 Plus?
