The Evolution Of The Tablet

Having only started to make serious waves in the last 5 years the origins of the tablet computer can actually be traced way back to 1972. Now a staple in modern day households offices hospitals restaurants and shops around the globe partly thanks to Apple’s game-changing inaugural iPad 2014 saw a staggering 230 million tablets shipped worldwide – growing 8% from 2013.

However with the emergence of the phablet and larger-screened mobile phones in general tablet shipments were down around 3% year-on-year in quarter 4 of 2014 – the industry’s first decline.  Could this be the beginning of the end for tablets?
